Yesterday at the Gift Show flew by. I got to walk the show with the lovely Nole (super fun — I'm campaigning for her to come up for every NYC show), and I saw a few new-to-me companies that I really loved, which always gives me a nice adrenaline boost when the legs start hurting from walking the aisles. One was a Toronto-based company called Pi'lo that also has an Etsy shop. The story behind Pi'lo is exactly the kind of company I want to support — beautifully handmade functional goods that are meant to be handed down to future generations as a special memento in your family. Heather Shaw makes everything in her coach house studio in downtown Toronto. I'm in love with the aprons (the pockets have a printed recipe.)
Lots of special gifts for kids and mamas-to-be, too. I thought the car bingo game is especially clever for long road trips (I was definitely the "are we there yet" kind of kid in the car.) And the number and alphabet books are such sweet treasures.
