I wanted to mark this day with a little something special, because a year ago today was actually when I started this blog. It's been a whole year! For me, it's a bit surreal thinking back, knowing I had no clue then what was in store for my year (would have never even guessed I'd be living here in Williamsburg.) I suppose that happens every January when you take a moment to reflect, but this past year has felt like one big leap of faith after another for me. It feels good seeing that I really took my courage and creativity out for a spin this year.
I would love to send you all a little care package to say thanks for making this year so much sweeter. But all I have are these photos. My hands are now covered in dye because I ran out of rubber gloves last night and wanted to tie dye to celebrate. I've been stuck on tie dye and have had a longtime fascination with Japanese furoshiki. So I decided to combine the two, and make tie dye furoshiki wrapping cloths. Try saying that three times: tie dye furoshiki.
The idea started with our Christmas travels. I actually made a ton of peppermint caramels for Dan's many, many cousins/aunts/uncles up in Maine who we saw over the holidays. It was my first time flying with so many gifts. I always get checked at the airport these days, and I had visions of airport security opening presents to be sure they're not dangerous – tearing off gift wrap that's perfectly in place with my double-sided tape. So a couple weeks before Christmas, I decided no tape, no paper. Fabric! Furoshiki would be a perfect alternative. It worked well, except I have no photos from that tie dye furoshiki wrapping adventure as I took too long to pack and we almost missed our flight! So this is a fresh batch of tie dye furoshiki wraps. I think I may use these for Valentine's Day to wrap up some sweet treats.
I'm so grateful for what the blog world has opened me up to — thank you fellow bloggers, because you inspire me daily. I blush a bit thinking of how some of you readers have been with me since the beginning! Thank you for following along. And I'm so happy to have met so many of you through this little space of mine on the internets. I have so much more I want to do on this blog. I'm feeling tingles of excitement thinking of putting ideas into action, launching some plans that have been in the works, and watching how the year unwraps. I hope to see you here. Thank you for sharing this space with me this year.
