I was lucky to make it to many of the shops on my San Francisco wishlist. I walked the four floors of Britex Fabrics for a couple hours. Amazing. I've been to many fantastic fabric shops in the Garment district of New York, like Project Runway favorite Mood Fabrics and B&J Fabrics, but Britex is a fabric mecca like no other I've seen. I also found the staff to be super helpful.
Most fabric stores have a small amount of wow and a whole lot of weird when it comes to pattern. Not Britex — just rows and rows of cool fabrics. I've been stuck on plaids and stripes recently, and I found so many fabrics I wanted to pick up.
pretty florals, ikats, polka dots, and Pucci-inspired fabrics
And a large section of patterned oilcloth fabrics! I picked up a few yards of yellow gingham oilcloth for a kitchen project I have in mind.
If you don't live in San Francisco, Britex Fabrics does offer a shipping service. If you do live in San Francisco, call me jealous!
