I love how being on vacation gives you an automatic pass for a little decadence. That's part of the thrill of vacation — to enjoy what you normally would not do because it's "too much" of something. I pretty much eat my weight in ice cream every summer, but my typical order consists of one scoop in a sugar cone with the occasional rainbow sprinkles. This week on vacation I've kept my eyes peeled for ice cream stops by the side of the road, and I've had two sundaes. That's right: the topping + whipped cream + nuts kind of decadent sundae (something I'd never order at home.)
Yesterday's sundae was the best so far. This little ice cream stand along Route 1 had a bunch of unusual flavors in homemade ice cream. Get this, they had strawberry rhubarb ice cream! I couldn't pass it up. So I went with a sundae with strawberry rhubarb ice cream, fresh local strawberries, the works. The perfect little indulgence.
