Here's the story of my meeting Factory 20: Stumbled upon randomly one night. Love at first sight. Fell madly in love. Abruptly dumped. (It's totally out of my league.)
When I think of what's in our apartment and what goes on my mental wishlist, the styles vary from bohemian, colorful ethnic looks to simple modern lines. But the style that's my current obsession is that you-know-it-when-you-see-it vintage industrial look. Totally smitten with that style, and it works quite well for our renovated factory loft apartment. Factory 20's site hits the vintage industrial nail on the head. Their antique finds are fantastic. Too bad most everything costs 4-digits in price. Meeting Factory 20 was like discovering that a line of clothes matches your style exactly, and then finding out it's Stella McCartney and totally out of your budget. I looked hard in Maine, but I didn't find much in the realm of salvaged industrial chairs, stools, tables, and racks from old factories, hardware stores, and doctor offices. I wanted to find a giant green chalkboard like these schoolhouse chalkboards — apparently supersized vintage chalkboards are hard to come by. I'm not abandoning my hunt! We can't "finish" our apartment without a few more pieces of furniture, but I'm hesitating to get the first thing I see to fill a hole. I'd like it to be just right so we want to keep the furniture around for years and years.
So have a peek around Factory 20. Just brace for sticker shock — this is no West Elm. But it is a great dose of eye candy at the least.
