the (sad) chair before
My friend Charlotte did an amazing makeover on this ho-hum chair that she bought off CraigsList. When I hear chair makeover, I always think of the wood chairs with the cushioned seats that you can instantly transform with paint, fresh fabric, and a staple gun as an easy DIY project. I wouldn't think this tufted chair screams chair makeover, because (unless if you're quite skilled) this is not a DIY job. But Charlotte saw its potential and she had a local reupholstering service work some magic on this dated chair. Drumroll please, the after:
Wow, right! In its new turquoise suit, I think Charlotte's chair looks like it could be this chair's long-lost sister. But rather than spending $1498, here's the breakdown for what Charlotte spent:
Chair cost $75. Fabric cost $40. Upholstery cost $400 (besides the reupholstery job, the reupholsterer re-cushioned the seat and put in new springs, too.)
Grand total: $515.
+ If you're in Brooklyn and looking for a local reupholsterer, Charlotte used Pillow Perfection.
+ If you're loving the idea of decorating with some turquoise in your home, Melanie and Victoria pulled together fantastic roundups of turquoise inspiration I find myself personally referencing often.
Thanks to Charlotte for sharing some morning eye candy. Love the turquoise chair!
