Next week starts a weekly series I'm calling Lost + Found. What's it all about?
lost adj unable to find the way : DESPERATE 2. hopelessly unattainable
found adj to take the first steps in building 2: to set or ground on something solid 3 : to establish often with provision of future maintenance : RELIEF (support)
I definitely had some bumps in transitioning to being self-employed, after almost a decade of working in corporate offices. I realized that some regular "systems" (for lack of a better word) needed work, and I was feeling hopelessly unclear how to organize myself to work from home. I felt lost with some simple key systems including these:
+ exponential growth of magazines after losing an office to house back issues
+ overwhelming number of photos (digital + prints) being newly married and new blogger
+ tax paperwork + receipts (much more complicated than before!)
+ containing a collection of craft supplies that's ever-growing
Feeling lost and desperate to rejigger my systems, I thought the best way to start building something better would be to talk to peeps who have been doing it longer than me. Sure, I could have interviewed a few professional organizers, I suppose, but the pros always focus on perfection — which is not what I'm looking for. I want to open up a dialogue to hear how others are feeling lost + found with organizing their systems. I think all of us are both organized and disorganized in our own ways.
I'm thrilled to announce that Monday kicks off Lost + Found with one of my favorite bloggers, Stephanie of StephModo. I was so excited that Stephanie said yes to being a part of the series, as I definitely look to her blog for organizing inspiration + ideas for weekday dinners (one system that always need work!) Be sure to check in Monday to see Stephanie's post for Lost + Found!
