Today, I am thrilled to share this q+a from one of my favorite bloggers. Sarah is the stylish creative force behind Pink of Perfection — a blog you should definitely bookmark if you're looking for delicious, approachable, inspiring ways to cook and entertain. Pink of Perfection ties in so well with the concept of Slow Food, because Sarah's recipes and ideas help you pick up the spatula rather than calling in for take-out. I love many food blogs, but Pink of Perfection is one I turn to even when I'm feeling tired, overwhelmed, hungry — but want a homemade meal. I also love the saying on Pink of Perfection, "a thrifty girl's guide to la dolce vita." Check out her happy hour at home with edamame hummus. Yum!
One thing I'm learning through Green Swap is that being green + thrifty often go together. Here's Sarah on going greener in her everyday life.
1. three simple ways you've gone greener in your life
I try really, really hard to not throw away any food, to use up and eat all leftovers and make use of, well, refuse. I'm not vegetarian, but I eat meatless most of the time, and I try to always have a tote bag with me so I don't need to use plastic bags.
2. last green purchase
Does organic tofu count?
3. one green initiative you'd like to see enacted in your community
There are lots of new condo buildings going up in my neighborhood. It would be great if green building practices were always used for greater energy conservation. And it would be amazing if the Gowanus Canal were ever cleaned up and turned into a destination, not unlike the park along the West Side Highway.
Beauty products!
5. hardest habit to break to be more eco-friendly
Flying, for sure.
6. three ways you want to be greener this year
More non-toxic stuff in my house: green paint, green cleaning supplies (maybe homemade), and if I could ever afford it, all organic produce. [Tomorrow I'll be doing a post on nontoxic, green paint — so check back in.]
[a big thank you to Sarah for being a part of Green Swap!!]
