On Saturday, I got to check out my friend Sue-Anne's knitting circle. I was so inspired by the project these crafty ladies are working on — everyone is knitting up squares to turn into a blanket for a friend who's battling an illness. It got me thinking how much I love the idea of women ritually getting together for a simple purpose. Another friend of mine meets up with the same circle of girlfriends every Wednesday evening for a potluck feast. I know a few friends who belong to a book club. I think I'm sorely missing a group like this in my everyday — a circle that comes together regularly as a ritual. I have yet to learn how to knit, so maybe it's time I picked up some needles to try my hands at it.
By the way, there were some seriously yummy snacks — check out the coffeetable o' munchies above. The gummies (next to the wasabi peas) are special gummies from Chinatown. Those were rather addictive. Best. gummies. ever. And Sue-Anne made chocolate bouchons (from scratch).

And here's a peek at the blanket so far — it will be finished in a few weeks! Thanks so much to these bighearted knitters for letting me into their circle for an afternoon!
