Quilts are my favorite way to dress a bed. Down comforters are warm and cozy, but we have an overzealous radiator and a teeny bedroom, so I refrain from puffy, lofty bedding. I adore our Les Indiennes quilt with gold sunbursts that I picked up from local shop Calypso Home. I haven't tired of the block-printed pattern after two years (shocker), and it's a seasonless quilt, so we simply layer a blanket or two underneath in the winter. I fell in love with the entire Les Indiennes line when I stopped by their booth at the New York Gift Show. So I wanted to share some of their line that's available now — gorgeous! Bonus: their bedding is a feel-good buy as their hand-printed cotton textiles provide fair trade employment to 50 families in India. How nice, Les Indiennes has simplified and modernized Indian designs in a stylish, eco-conscious way.
Jen's cleaning tip: To keep my Les Indiennes quilt in good shape, I wash it separately (around monthly; it's always our top bedding layer) in a front-loading washer (no center agitator) on the cold, delicate cycle with a delicate detergent (my pick is The Laundress Delicate Wash.) Then I have it tumble-dry on low heat. Do not dry clean these cotton quilts!
